Terms
Terms of service
Last updated: April 2026
The short version
Use Keepsake to restore your own family photos, or photos you have permission to restore. Don't use it for anything illegal or to upset other people. Pay for the credits you use. We'll do our best to keep the service running and your photos safe.
Who can use Keepsake
You need to be 18 or older. By creating an account, you tell us you're an adult, that the email and phone you give us are yours, and that the information you give us is accurate.
What you can upload
You can upload:
- Photos you own.
- Photos of family members where you have a reasonable basis to restore them (e.g. inherited family albums).
- Photos you have explicit permission from the subject — or their estate — to restore.
You may not upload:
- Photos of other people you don't have a reasonable basis or permission to use.
- Photos that are illegal, sexually explicit, depict minors in distress, promote violence, or are designed to harass anyone.
- Photos of identification documents (passports, driving licences, government IDs).
- Anything you didn't take and don't have rights to.
We screen uploads with automated moderation. If something is flagged we'll block it and email you. Repeated violations close your account.
What we do with what you upload
We restore the photo. That's it. We don't republish it, share it, show it to other users, or train any AI model on it. Full detail in our privacy policy.
You keep all the rights you had to your photo, including copyright. You give us a narrow licence — only to receive, store, restore, and deliver back to you the photo and its restored version.
Credits and payments
- Free credits reset monthly and don't roll over. Photos restored on the free tier carry a small watermark and are deleted automatically after 24 hours.
- Pack credits expire 12 months after purchase.
- Subscription credits renew on your billing date and roll over for 3 months on a first-in, first-out basis.
- Referral credits are awarded when someone you referred makes their first paid purchase. They expire 12 months after they're earned.
- We always use your soonest-expiring credits first so nothing goes to waste.
Refunds
If a restoration fails for technical reasons on our side, we automatically credit you back. If you're not happy with a Standard restoration, regenerate it for free — and if a second Standard attempt still isn't right, you can escalate to Deep Restore (3 credits) or request a credit refund from your result page.
Credit refunds are self-service. Most refunds are returned to your balance immediately. A small number of refunds in a month may be queued for a brief review window before they land back in your balance — buying a pack or paying your next subscription invoice releases any queued refunds right away.
For pack purchases: full refund within 14 days if you haven't used any credits from that pack. After credits are used, no cash refund but unused credits remain valid until their expiry.
For subscriptions: cancel anytime. You keep access for 30 days after cancellation. We don't pro-rate partial months.
Cancelling and deleting
Cancel your subscription from your account page at any time. Delete individual photos from your gallery, or your whole account from Account → Privacy and deletion. Account deletion is permanent and we can't recover deleted photos.
Service availability
We aim to keep Keepsake running smoothly, but we don't promise zero downtime. If a long outage prevents you from using credits during their valid period, email us and we'll extend their expiry.
If something goes wrong
We provide Keepsake "as is." We're not liable for losses beyond the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months. We're not responsible for things outside our control (your internet connection, third-party payment processors, your device). This doesn't override any rights you have under consumer protection law.
Things we can do
We may, with reasonable notice and a clear reason:
- Update these terms (we'll email you about meaningful changes).
- Suspend or close an account that's being used to harass others, commit fraud, or violate these terms.
- Remove content that violates the upload rules above.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States. Disputes will be handled in Delaware courts. If you live somewhere with stronger consumer protections, those still apply.
